Rab Microlight Alpine Jacket.

Rab Microlight Alpine Jacket.

The Rab Microlight Alpine Jacket is a lightweight, narrow baffled down jacket with a weather resistant Pertex outer fabric, and 140g (Large) of 750 fill Hydrophobic European goose down.

The jacket is very light, between 400g – 465g depending on size, and is extremely comfortable.

The construction also looks very good, with a narrow baffle structure to minimize down movement.

The Pertex Microlight layer looks quite fragile, although having used the Rab Infinity 300 sleeping bag with the same Pertex layer, I know it’s far tougher than it looks.

The Pertex layer also makes the jacket completely windproof, and although not fully waterproof, it does shed rain quite well. Combine that with the Hydrophobic down and you don’t have to panic quite so much if you do get caught in a rain shower.

Having worn the jacket now on a few winter belay ledges, I can say for it’s weight and fill, it really does pack some warmth, never felt the cold at all!
